28/7/2004: Wow, it's been a while! I've been quite busy, you see. This'll only be short, stuff to do!

I got my college assignment for the summer before I begin my BTEC National Diploma in Foundation Art and Design *posh posh posh*, and basically I have to keep a visual diary, read and review some books, see some movies, visit galleries etc. etc. Interesting to me, but probably not to you. But I'm telling you anyway, because this is my blog, and I am ZIM! Listen, foolish worm-baby...

*Cough* Sorry about that.

Ooooh, I got bored this morning and cut my hair. I was watching some old black-and-white movie last night, The Innocents, that was based on the same novel as The Others was based on, but made back in 1961 or thereabouts, and it got me thinking about old black-and-white movie stars and how pretty some of their hair was and... well, I know it's not entirely faithful but I kinda aimed for something like that. Observe.

Hehehe I look about four years old!

Like? No like? I can't hear you either way!

That'll do for now, Invaders. Off to get a snack!! Toodle-ooooo!!

10/7/2004: So let me tell you about yesterday, my non-existent readership!

Yesterday I went to see THE CURE!!! And I had an amazing day, it went somethign like this: I got up faaaaar to early, got washed and dressed and put on my make-up, ya-de-yah-de, and eventually found myself at the train station at 10am with Kateington, my fantastical friend who got us the tickets half price on eBay :D We sat waiting for an hour for our train into Manchester playing I-spy and discussing how Elvis was buried under the platform and how his ghost sometimes filled in when there were no train-drivers available... as you do, of course. We had great fun on the train when it actually arrived at about 11am, giggling manically whenever the train blew it's horn/whistley thingum XD

So we got into Manchester and had these AMAZING sandwiches at the train station, and as we were leaving we saw DANGERCOW! Now I haven't quite figured out why, but it would seem that around Manchester City center there's lots of cow statues all painted up funny, and this one was painted to look like Dangermouse! It RULED!

We had a ramble around the city center for a bit, to kill some time, went in to Ann Summers and various cool shops we stumbled across. We meandered briefly through an open air food market where they were selling HUGE great lumps of cheese :D I was in heaven, all that CHEESE! And fudge too, hehe. We were bombarded with flyer-people, and I got one for magic mushrooms and a 10% discount at a piercing studio (would have made use of it if I'd had more money) and free phone card thingies :S. We also saw the Hoochie-Coochie Man, a busker near-ish to the Tram station thingy, playing a rather admirable rendition of "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits (I like that song :D )

Eventually we boarded a tram and set off for Old Trafford Cricket Ground, and arrived shortly after 1pm, which was, um, a bit too early to say the least, we didn't get in til 3pm, but we were quite early in the queue and played I-spy again and the festival game ... you know, the game where you say "I went to the Festival and I took..." ... we played twice but one of our lists ended up like this:

I went to the Festival and I took:
an armchair
a billabong
a cat
a didgeridoo
an egg
a fork
a golf club
a hobo
Iceland
a Jigglypuff
a kickin' cod
a lesbian porn video
a Malteaser (just the one, it's on holiday)
a noose
an octopus
a pink panther
a quartet of strings
a rodent of no specific type
a shellfish
a tiara
an umbrella
a violent oscelot
a welsh pig (oink)
some X-rated cheese
a yellow cow
and a zookeeper

It's a silly game :D

So we got in, I got a t-shirt (wering it now XD ) and we mooched up to the stage. There were only five bands in the line-up, as opposed to about seven or so last year, and it all kinda went like this:

The Cranes - No, I haven't heard of them either. But they were okay, kinda drifty and such, and the lead singer-lady got a bit of stick from the crowd but handled it well. Someone yelled "good thing you've got your coat on, you're not staying!" and she just smiled and took her coat off... Well, you had to be there I suppose. Nice set. We went for chips afterwards.

Longview - Good, a bit more bouncy in places but still slow. Quite good fun, and the hard-core fans were great, all bouncy and stuffs :D

Keane - Er... okay. Ish. Lots of enthusiasm, but MY LORD we do NOT need a ten minute explanation of the emotional background to each and every song. Fans were bloody ignorant too. "Oh, lets come back to the front when the Cure are on, bloody Goths, and throw stuff at them!! KEANE-O!!!".... yeah.

Elbow - Thouroughly enjoyable, lead-singer-blokey improvised by singing about the MAG operation they were supporting (not sure what it stands for, but basically they want to clear up landmines, so good stuff) when technical difficulties stopped them from playing half way through the set.

And finally...

THE CURE - AMAZING, without any doubt. Everyone was up at the front, dancing and singing and screaming like mad! Before they started their first song, Robert Smith was walking about on the stage and I swear I was about 20ft from him, it was positively FANTASTIC!!! I stayed right up there by the front for most of the set (AMAZING, AMAZING set) but then I went to look for Kate. Found her pretty quick and we danced like nutters throughout the encore, which finished off with 'Boys Don't Cry'... ah, it was AMAZING!

Got a lift home off my dad, nice man :) Came home, had a beer and went to bed. Long day but well worth it :D

Ta-ta teacakes

3/7/2004: None too sure what I've got a blog for, I suppose I just want a place where I can ramble pointlessly about what I've done today and major life-related stuffs. I'll keep it simple for now, no point bombarding what few visitors I'll have with pointless info, hehe :D

So, minor non-updates for today stands thus: sore :( but happy, because next week I'm going to see The Cure at the Manchester Move Festival, and I'm gonna be dressed as a faerie :D Also, the particularly lovely bloke I met whilst severely drunk at the end-of-school-forever-raaaaah-let's-party shindig at the Baa Bar has asked me if I wanna meet up with him next week, and... well, I try not to be too optimistic, but for the first time since 'the whole deal with Martin' (it would take too long to explain) I feel like I'm not wasting my time :D so... um... yeah :D

Tell you something that none of you will know... no, it's not very exciting... I have a shiny new piercing, my lip :D that brings the total piercings up to 9, of which I did 5 myself, including the lip. Don't look at me like that, I'm not a 'mad, sadistic cow' as my lovely friend Paul described me for having done it, I'm just really skint... ah well.

That shall do, for now. Farewell, fellow Moomins.
